The Service Selection Board In India, sometimes known as the SSB, is an entity that conducts evaluations on potential applicants for officer positions in the Indian Armed Forces. Interviews, personality assessments, and IQ examinations are the components that make up the board’s defined methodology for evaluating candidates for officer positions. This is how the board determines whether or not a candidate is qualified to become an officer.

The examinations are of both the written and the hands-on, task-based practical kind. An SSB is made up of a panel of evaluators, all of whom are officers in the Indian Armed Forces and have the titles of Psychologist, GTO (Group Task Officer), and Interviewing Officer respectively. There are situations when the military psychologist may not even come from the military itself.

India has a total of thirteen Service Selection Boards, four of which are for the Indian Army, four for the Indian Air Force, and five for the Indian Navy. Out of these thirteen boards, four are for the Indian Army, four for the Indian Air Force, and five for the Indian Navy. The SSB is an assessment procedure that lasts for five days.

The Procedure of the Service Selection Board In India

Candidates who have passed the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) written exam, who have been recommended by a Preliminary Interview Board (PIB) for the Territorial Army, or who have been asked to present to the Service Selection Board in India are given an SSB center to go to. Service candidates go where their superiors tell them to go. Some entries, like the Technical Entry and the NCC Special Entry, get a call letter right away to go to the SSB.

Manasa, Vacha, and Karmana are the ideas that guide the choice. Officers use different tests, like a psychology test, an interview, and GTO tasks, to learn about a candidate’s personality. In the Service Selection Board In India, there are no right or wrong answers because everyone handles the same situation differently. The goal is to see if the candidate has what it takes to be an officer in the military.
